Choose the moment before choosing the gift

A Thanksgiving thank-you, a Christmas celebration and an inclusive year-end message can each call for a different presentation. Think about the recipients, their working calendar and the language that will make them feel welcome. A seasonal palette does not need to depend on a particular holiday.

In 2026, Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, and Christmas Day falls on Friday, December 25. These are calendar anchors, not shipping deadlines. Ask your contacts about office closures and travel, then choose an arrival window that gives them time to enjoy the gift.

Write a brief your team can approve

One shared brief keeps purchasing, marketing and leadership working toward the same result. Include a sentence about the relationship: thanking longtime clients calls for a different message than celebrating a busy year with employees.

You do not need a finished gift concept. At Merry Finch, we personally curate the contents and packaging around your brief rather than asking you to select from a catalog.

  • Audience and approximate recipient count, including any groups with different needs.
  • Target spend per gift and a separate allowance for delivery and other project costs.
  • Preferred arrival window, office or home destinations, and known closures.
  • Brand artwork, message, dietary requests and the person who gives final approval.

Work backward through five decisions

Build the schedule with your gifting partner after the concept is scoped. Custom engraving, printed sleeves, product availability and the number of destinations all affect the work involved. A generic order-by date cannot account for every project.

Protect time for the details that make it personal

A short, specific note often gives a gift its meaning. Leave time for the people closest to the relationship to review the wording. Confirm spelling, logo placement and the final list of recipients before production begins.

If approvals run late, discuss which parts of the concept can be simplified. A different package or a carefully chosen substitute may preserve the intent, but changes should be agreed in writing. Never assume a seasonal ingredient or a particular box will remain available.

Make delivery part of the experience

Decide whether gifts will go to one office, multiple locations or individual homes. Assign a contact who can resolve an incomplete address or a returned package. After the project, record what arrived smoothly and what you would change next season.

Bring us your 2026 holiday brief as early as you can. We will review the creative direction, confirm what is feasible and build a proposal around your company’s vision and budget.
